There are a number of photographs that I have preconceived in my mind and I am simply waiting for the day when they eventually materialise in front of my eyes. This fortunately was one of those moments as I have driven past this lone tree countless times and wishing there to be either a giraffe or elephant gracefully stood beside it to balance the frame. Late one morning in February 2020, on our way back to camp we spotted a single giraffe moving across the skyline, slowly making its way towards the tree. Stopping the vehicle at a distance, I wanted to compose the photograph with plenty of empty space just how I had envisaged for a number of years. As if by magic, the giraffe briefly browsed the underside of the canopy before walking off into thicker bush.
