This is Ron, part of what once was a very strong coalition of males residing in Kenya’s Maasai Mara. Lions are often portrayed as powerful hunters but I find there is more satisfaction in composing photographs that demonstrate the beauty, power and majesty of Africa’s largest cat. ‘Beauty, Power, Majesty’ was taken late in 2015 on the slopes of an iconic landmark in the Mara called ‘Lookout’. The high Eastern side receives the first rays of morning light where Ron was stood that morning. This photograph was awarded in the prestigious European Photographer Of The Year Awards in 2015.
