This relatively old photograph taken in the Masaai Mara in 2014 not only started my journey as an exhibiting photographer but also began my journey into black and white photography. As my first sellable photograph from the African continent this print marks the point where my focus changed from simply wanting to take aesthetically pleasing photographs to capturing moments in time that would take pride of place on the living room wall. Lions are the most social of all the big cats in Africa and ‘The Strongest Bond’ depicts the importance of living in a pride. Having spent time apart, family members come together and rub heads to reaffirm their bond. ‘The Strongest Bond’ was awarded in the ZSL Photographer Of The Year Competition in 2015.
