We left camp under the cover of darkness in the hope of finding a cheetah in morning light. Only twenty minutes from camp the twilight was just strong enough to spot this female sitting upright in the long grass. We patiently waited at a distance before she began to move, eventually sitting elegantly on the top of this mound. Initially she was sat in complete shade but thankfully continued to stay there long enough for us to watch as the sun rose over the horizon and the first rays of light touched her ears and ran eventually down the entire body, lighting the cheetah up against the savannah which was still covered in shadow.
